Case study: content architecture and website strategy
Making complex, research-led work clear without simplifying it away
Future Brown Space works across Black Studies, performance, writing, education and institutional change. Its work is intellectually rigorous and emotionally demanding. The website needed to help new visitors understand the offer while respecting that depth.
My role: Strategy, brand identity, graphic design, website design and build, and integrations. The client created the copy.
The challenge
The platform speaks to artists, educators, universities and cultural institutions. Each audience arrives with different knowledge and different reasons for engaging. The risk was either overwhelming people with theory or reducing meaningful work to generic diversity language.
What I brought together
I built a structure that separates the main workshop offers while keeping them connected to the larger research and artistic practice. Testimonials do more than decorate the page: they show how participants experience the work. Clear invitations help institutions move from reading to discussing a workshop, seminar or bespoke collaboration.
What the website now enables
- Different audiences can quickly find the part of the work that is relevant to them.
- The site demonstrates depth through writing, methodology and participant experience.
- Institutions have a clear next step when they want a tailored engagement.
