Case study: small website and brand atmosphere

A small, strange and welcoming website that lowers the barrier to joining

Future Ancestor Club is an experimental creative community built around writing, drawing, voice, sound and embodied practices. The website did not need to explain every possible session. It needed to make the right people curious and help them feel welcome.

My role: Strategy, copy, brand identity, graphic design, website design and build, and integrations.

The challenge

Experimental spaces can easily sound exclusive or overly artistic. The people who would benefit most may assume they are not talented, confident or “creative enough” to belong.

What I brought together

I kept the structure deliberately light and let the language do the important work. The copy removes pressure: no talent, confidence or certainty required. The visual atmosphere signals play, curiosity and protected weirdness. Visitors understand the spirit of the club without being buried in rules.

What the website now enables

  • People can decide quickly whether the atmosphere feels right for them.
  • The community feels distinctive without feeling closed.
  • The path from curiosity to learning more or making contact stays simple.
