Case study: portfolio website and audio functionality
A portfolio designed to be heard, not merely described
Gyndroid’s work is heard before it can be understood from a paragraph: voice, music and soundscapes for meditation and guided experiences. A potential collaborator wants to feel the atmosphere and hear the range. The portfolio needed to let sound lead.
My role: Strategy, copy, brand identity, graphic design, website design and build, and integrations.
A written description cannot play the sample
Audio is emotional and difficult to judge from a service description. The site needed to demonstrate range and atmosphere, explain where the work can be used and make commissioning a custom sample feel straightforward.
Listen first, then commission
I created an audio-first experience where voice demos, soundscapes, testimonials and service explanations support one another. Instead of asking visitors to imagine the result, the website lets them listen. A custom-sample invitation gives serious enquiries a low-friction next step.
Some of the best parts of your work are hard to put into words. I wrote about finding the ones that matter.
A client should hear it first
We worked through the commissions Gyndroid wants to attract and what a demo can show in seconds. That led to an audio-led structure, with the words doing a different job: explaining where the sound fits, what custom work involves and how to ask for a sample. The site gives a prospective client evidence before they have to write a brief.
Audio, front and centre
A prospective client can listen to voice, music and soundscapes before writing a brief. I made audio central to the site rather than treating it as a small attachment at the end of a services page. The custom-sample invitation follows naturally from that experience.
From listening to a brief
The copy and identity give context to what someone hears: the kinds of projects Gyndroid works on, the atmosphere she can create and how a commission begins. Listening does the emotional work; the surrounding website makes the decision practical.
