SOME THOUGHTS

What is AEO, really?

AEO is about making your knowledge useful when people want a direct answer. Clear explanations can help potential customers as well as search services.

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. It’s a term used for work that makes information easier to find and use as an answer in search and AI services.

You don’t need to learn another system. Start with what your customer wants to know and give them an answer they can understand.

Which question comes before the enquiry?

Someone considering a new website might ask: What does it cost? How long does it take? Do I have to write all the copy myself?

An answer hidden behind phrases such as complete solutions and digital transformation doesn’t help much. Explain what’s included, what affects the price and what the customer needs to do.

A short answer still needs context

I like to start with a direct answer, then explain what the reader needs in order to use it.

For a pricing question, we might describe a smaller project, what makes a project larger and which costs are additional. For timing, we explain what needs to be ready before work can begin.

That makes both the answer and its limits easier to understand. We don’t need a separate page for every sentence.

What do I do with your website?

I help find the questions people ask before they book or get in touch. They often already exist in your inbox, your conversations and the things you explain to every new customer.

We turn those answers into useful website content. Sometimes they belong on the service page. Sometimes a question deserves its own guide. I organise the explanation and the path to the relevant service.

Is AEO separate from SEO?

The work overlaps. Google describes optimisation for its generative search features as part of SEO. AEO isn’t a separate switch that needs turning on.

A clear page can help someone choose you even if a search service never displays an extract from it. That’s an important part of its value.

What should the answer lead to?

A potential customer should understand their problem better, see how you can help and know what to do next. We also look at whether the right people get in touch.

Are there questions you’re tired of explaining again and again? They can be a good starting point. I can help turn them into content that does some of the explaining for you.
